Ladies and Gentlemen. (Though let’s be honest, the ladies in this league are the only ones bringing any actual class and etiquette to the tee box. The rest of you are scoundrels.
Building off the undeniable success of last year's series—and taking into account the absolutely staggering amount of whining you all managed to produce—I am officially announcing The Bhattalion Swingers Golf (BSG) 2026 Champions Cup Series.
The season runs from May through October. We are targeting tracks like Viniterra and Royal New Kent, actually all over central Virginia, so bring plenty of golf balls and lower your expectations.
We’ve completely revamped the format this year. The goal is maximum flexibility, zero pressure, and a system that prevents anyone from running away with the trophy by July just because they found a magical eraser in their golf bag.
Here is what you actually need to know right now:
The Buy-In is $75. This covers the league prize pool, the year-end awards, and the ultimate BSG Cup.
Pay Me By March 31st. Venmo or cash. Do not make me hunt you down. If we don't get the money in, we can't book the tee times. If I have to chase you for $75, your handicap mysteriously drops by three strokes.
The Swag is Optional. The custom BSG polo shirts will be the main gift, but as we pick up sponsors we will be adding to your pile of unwanted stuff in the garage.
No Whining. Seriously. We have instituted a "Good Vibes Mandate." This applies to bad lies, missed three-footers, and your sudden, mysterious back pain on the 16th hole. If you kill the mood by complaining, you are immediately buying a pitcher for the group at the 19th hole.
How the Season Works: We have 5 major "Festival" dates locked in for the whole group to get together, get loud, and make some junk bets. But you can try to make 3 of them.
Outside of that, you can play your weekly league rounds whenever and wherever you want, as long as you're in a BSG foursome and declare your round beforehand. For those of you who don't want to herd cats and organize your own foursomes, I will be sending out a weekly poll to see who wants to jump into a larger, pre-organized BSG group that week.
Read the attached BSG 2026 Manifesto for the actual rules, the new scoring system, and how I'm handling your handicaps so you can't sandbag me.
Pay your $75. Fix your slice. Let’s go.
Deesh Commissioner, BSG
Welcome to the Champions Cup Series. To save us all from doing calculus on the 18th green, here is exactly how this league works.
You are going to play a lot of golf between May and October. But to win the BSG Cup, we are only counting your Best 15 Scores of the season:
Your Top 3 Festival Scores (Out of 5 total)
Your Top 12 Flexible Weekly Scores
Translation: If you shoot a 110, go on vacation, or get grounded by your spouse for playing too much golf, your season isn't over. We only care about your good days.
You don't have to show up at a mandatory time every week. Build a BSG foursome, pick a course, and play. Don't want to plan? Just answer the Commish's weekly poll and jump in with the bigger group.
The Declaration Rule: You MUST declare to the Commish that you are playing an official round before you tee off.
The 24-Hour Rule (Pics or it didn't happen): I am not your accountant. A clear photo of the finalized, signed scorecard MUST be submitted to the Commish within 24 hours of your round. No photo, no points.
The Formats: We’ll rotate through games that keep things interesting: Stableford, Sixes, 2-Man Blind Draws, and pure Net Stroke Play.
The Sandbagger Clause: Your league handicap will be strictly determined by the Commish. It will be a combination of your official GHIN and a ruthless, judgmental assessment of your actual play. I have eyes.
Junk Bets: All side action and junk bets (Skins, CTP, Longest Drive) will be determined the week of the Festival, or on the morning of group play. All bets pay out to the lowest net score.
This system handles every format—from the "Silent" Stroke Play to the "Rowdy" Wolf/Vegas games.
Consistency is the heartbeat of the BSG. If you tee it up, you're gaining ground.
Weekly Open: 5 Points for a posted scorecard.
Major/Festival: 10 Points for participating.
Regardless of the game, we rank everyone 1 through 16 based on their Individual Net Result.
Weekly Open: 2 Points for every player you beat.
Major/Festival: 4 Points for every player you beat.
Note: In "Wolf" or "High-Low," your individual ranking is determined by your total points earned in your foursome compared to the points earned by players in other foursomes.
This is where we account for the specific team/point-based formats.
C1. Stroke/Stableford/Chicago (Team & Individual)
If you are in a 2-Man Blind Draw or Amigos:
1st Place Team: +20 pts (Weekly) / +40 pts (Major)
2nd Place Team: +10 pts (Weekly) / +20 pts (Major)
C2. The "Point-Grinders" (Wolf, High-Low, Left-Right Vegas)
Since these games are won by accumulating points on the course, we convert those into Season Points based on your Rank within the 16-man field.
Rank in Field Weekly Bonus Major/Festival Bonus
Top Point Earner (#1) +20 pts +50 pts
2nd Overall Points +15 pts +30 pts
3rd Overall Points +10 pts +20 pts
The "Vegas/Left-Right" Rule
Because a "Net 9" flip can ruin a score, we don't rank you by your Vegas total alone (which can be 200+). Instead, the Spreadsheet God ranks you by your Individual Net Strokes for the "Kill" bonus, while the "Vegas Points" determine who gets the Winner Bonus.
The "High-Low" & "Wolf" Rule
In these games, you are often fighting for your life.
The "Alpha" Bonus: In Wolf, if you finish with the most points in your foursome, you earn a +5 point "Alpha" kicker, regardless of how the other 12 players in the league performed.
Strength of Field: Beating 15 other guys in a Major is worth 60 "Kill" points, while beating 3 guys in an Open Week is only worth 6.
No "Empty" Wins: You can't just win a 2-man game and leapfrog the leader. You need to consistently beat the field individually to hold the top spot.
The "Math-Challenged" Safety Net: For everything except Wolf/High-Low, the players just submit Gross Strokes. The Spreadsheet God handles the "Kill" rankings and the "Team" bonuses automatically.
placement becomes your individual placement. If your 4-player team wins 1st place, all four of you get the full 1st place individual points for the week.
We are playing tough courses. Keep it moving.
The BSG Bump: No mulligans. However, you get a one-club-length bump (no closer to the hole) anywhere on the course to find a clean lie.
The Universal Red Stake: Spend 2 minutes looking for your ProV1, realize you should be playing Top-Flites anyway, and give up. Play all OOB and lost balls as lateral hazards. Drop, take a stroke, and hit.
The Abacus Rule: The maximum score on any hole is Double Par Net. Once you reach it, pick up your ball, put it in your pocket, and reflect on your life choices.
The Gimme: Inside a standard putter grip's length? It's good. Pick it up before you miss it and ruin everyone's day.
