Format: Rotating 2-vs-2 or 1-vs-3
The Vibe: Strategic Betrayal & High-Stakes Math
We chose Sycamore Creek for the season opener because the course is a siren song for "Hero Shots." Itās a high-risk, high-reward layout where a single swing can turn a hole into a masterpiece or a disaster. Wolf is the perfect game for this environment because it forces you to decide: Do I trust my buddy to hit the green, or do I go it alone?
The Rotation: The "Wolf" rotates every hole (Player 1 on Hole 1, Player 2 on Hole 2, etc.). The Wolf always tees off Last
The Decision: After each subsequent player hits their drive, the Wolf has 3 seconds to decide:
PICK: That player becomes your partner for the hole (2-vs-2).
PASS: You wait to see the next playerās drive. Once you pass a player, you cannot go back.
The Lone Wolf: If the Wolf hates everyoneās drive, they can choose to go "Lone Wolf" (1-vs-3). This must be declared before the Wolf hits their second shot.
Scoring (The Spreadsheet Logic):
USE THE APP
In a game like Wolf, "forgetting" your strokes is professional negligence. If the Wolf doesn't know you have a "pop" on a hole, they canāt make an informed business decision.
The Sycamore Mandate:
Broadcast Your Strokes: Before the first ball is teed up, every player must loudly announce their net handicap for that specific hole.
Example: "Iām a Net 4 on this hole, and Iāve got a stroke on the Wolf!"
The "Silent/Math" Pairing: To ensure total fairness, we are specifically pairing the Silent Assassin types (who don't talk) with the Math-Challenged guys (who can't count).
The Goal: No secrets. No "I didn't know I had a stroke." One guy provides the data, the other provides the volume. By the time you reach the green, everyone should know exactly what everyone else needs to shoot to win the point.
At Sycamore, the "safe" play usually ends up in the creek, and the "hero" play usually ends up in the woods. Don't just pick the guy with the longest driveāpick the guy who has a stroke and a pulse.
The spreadsheet is the only math that matters at the end of the day. Play your game; Iāll handle the carnage.
